Some thoughts and reports from outings...
Blogs from some outdoor adventures.....
A few weekends ago and we headed to Benn Udlaidh in search of some ice. My previous three visits had failed to find sufficient ice to climb any of the classic lines up here. However this was to change this weekend! Four of us headed up early doors in to Coire Daimh with only one party ahead of us. The forecast was for extremely high winds high up (100mph) but we hoped to miss most of this at the relatively low altitude. Once in the Corrie we split into two groups with one group headed to Sunshine Gully and myself and G headed to look at Quartzvein Scoop. On arrival there was a party of three starting off so we started a little to the left and did a variant which went up a few ledges and into some caves and finally bck onto Quartzvein proper. Not too sure if we were far enough ovr to say we were on Ice Screw- anyhows fun was had andup we went.... as in film below.... On topping out the winds were not as bad as expected and we walkie talkied the other group and decided on an joint ascent of West Gully. A descent down central gully and we were soon at the base of West Gully. A fine route, athough top pitch was a little banked out...... Film below A fine outing :)
