Some thoughts and reports from outings...
Blogs from some outdoor adventures.....
A little rest day saw us head down via Brig to a roadside crag above Naters. Nice slabby climbing and the sun shone - something that wasn't to happen high in the mountains for a few days!
After checking the forecast it seemed certain the forecast was not going to play ball... With thunder forecast for the afternoon we decided on heading up the Allalinhorn on our first full day. Didn't fancy being caught out on Alpendurst as planned. Left and caught the first lift up with the very happy skiers all crammed in- read sardines in a tin ! Soon we were headed up to the Feejoch under blue skies. The views on reaching the bealach were simply amazing with the Rimpfischhorn and Strahlhorn dominting the skyline with Monta Rosa and The Matterhorn making a suitable back drop, cracking views..... Soon we were headed for the summit only a short hike from the Bealach . There were a number of teams on the mountain - but not too many and it didn't take us long to reach the summit ridge... Looking up to the summit from bealach... The summit was reached and the views were amazing above the clouds. We left the summit and got a bite to eat and soaked in the amazing views :)
Views from near summit :) We arrived in Geneva around 13.00 from Edinburgh and our first nights accommodation was in Saas Grund. We had some idea of what we were planning in terms of mountain days. however we were more than aware that the weather conditions this year had been changeable to say the least in the Alps!! When we arrived the weather looked good. Once the car was picked up the guide books were opened and we decided on trying out this Ferrata above Sion. We must have started bout 16.00 and it took a couple of hours. Was a fine way to start the adventure, I have attached a short (tongue firmly in ceek here) video clip of the Ferrata - hope you enjoy.
