Some thoughts and reports from outings...
Blogs from some outdoor adventures.....
Not going to bother spending much time writing about about 2012 as it has many great outdoor moments. Instead I thought I'd post some of my favourite mountain pictures from this year and my video highlights (at bottom). Have a great New Year!!!

Used last few days to compile my video highlights from 2012 - keen to get outside now though weather not playing ball!!!!!! Not doing too much outside this weekend - mainly due to weather - so have spent morning editing part two of best bits from this year. Did first half of year yestersay and it has been very therapeutic. Before sifting through the footage I was unaware as to just how many hills, bike rides and erm surfing !! has been done - had to leave much out but some great memories there - think part two will be beter than part one. Have copied part one below..... Decided on Morven today - my brother was in Aberdeen so it was almost in between me and him!! Just a wee leg stretch and we did it from he east (easier side I think). Left house at 7ish and it was snowing - better not get worse I thought - as I had to drive up the A93!!! As it turns out the Glenshee road was a little slippy nearer th pass and speed was kept down. I thought the road would have been choked with skiers but the car parks were empty - not too much snow up here by looks of htings although I did notice some skiers en route home. Hill was good - a short steep walk to top in undertwo hours then back down a less steep part. Any reminents of a hangover were away by the first steep pull!! The views were ok - visibility was moderate and I can imaging the views on a crystal clear day would be greaaaaat. We could pick out Bnnachie easily and mount keen was plastered in snow to the south. The Lochnagar Corrie was just visible but looked like the summit had cloud as did the cairngorms. Not much wind but is was cold - probably below freezing for most of the day - not going to last though as tomorrow sees a altlantic warm front eading over I think......... enjoyable outing - some pics below...... just seen forecats for weekend - does not look too good!!! Out tomorrow to stretch the legs - however dont think I'll be getting views like the ones below from last week :( - however you never know.... finger crossed!!!!
Not sure if I'll get back out before 2012 ends, but if I dont then I dont care!!! The two days I had last week were perfect and have fed the rat for a few weeks!. In some of scotland most iconic mountain areas I had geat weather, spectacular sunrises, blue skies, snow capped mountains, superb visibility etc etc - I could go on... Monday was great - cloud inversions and views to Suilven and Assynt over a stunning sunrise... I didnt think i could get any better - but it did. A sleep over in back of car and off for a winter traverse of a Torridon peak - Beinn Dearg - This was one of my best ever days on a mountain in scotland.. absolutley awesome!! Have attached and upload both video reports now and will get round to the written reports soon...... Spent a bit of time editing day 2 on my micro adventure - mainly because I had so many good pieces of footage !! One of my best days in the hills - anyway - it's currently down loading on u tube!! A perfect day in one if my favourite places - Torridon.....
Well was it worth it ....... I was up at 03.00AM on Monday morning and driving some 200 mies north by ten to four, then on Tuesday I was up at 04.45AM......... I have to admit to feeling knackered but all the suffering was well and truly balanced out by the two days I had on the hill. If I thought that the sunrise and views to the Assynt hills couldnt be beaten on the Monday then I was truly proved wrong the following day- an absolute epic trip to torridon and a traverse of Beinn Dearg. Although not as well know as the other threeTorridon hills it certainly gives the best views to all three of these hills. Additionally with the hill being covered in snow and ice it provided a little bit of mountaineering practise. So many good pics and footage - may be a while before I get these videos edited!!
After an insanely early start (up at 3 am!!) I headed up north and decided on walking canisp. The early start enabled me to be on hill before sunrise and what a sunrise it was awesome. The next awesome thing was suilven - felt like I was a hobbit truly tolkeinesk! Unfortunately the clag came in nearer the top and the wind picked up- not a place to linger! What a great hill for the views !! Photos to come tomorrow
