Some thoughts and reports from outings...
Blogs from some outdoor adventures.....
As my mountain exile continues and I wait for a date for surgery, my mind is seeking a mountain adventure more and more! The fact that I cannot head for the hills seems to make this worse!! Driving the long road north from Port Shrigley yesterday, the Mountains of the Lake District looked superb off to the West. Looking over to them, a high wild camp would be perfect, the day had been a cracker and the light breeze and clear air would provide for some stunning views. The forecast of torrential rain later in the evening didn't subdue my jealousy though!! This morning as I listen to the rain battering against the window, I have taken to looking back at some old photos which then led onto watching some of the videos from our mountain adventure rom he last few years. To help feed my mountain addiction I thought I'd share what videos I have enjoyed most over the years and the ones I seem to re live on occasions like today :) Number 8 - A Perfect Torridonian Winter Traverse After a very early start an a day on a fine hill in Assynt, I then drove down to Glen Torridon with the plan to bag two Corbett. I very (very) late change of plan saw me head up Beinn Dearg on what turned out to be a fine day. Never met another soul all day.... Number 7 - Wild camping the Fisherfield Six We headed off in the rain and the midge's feasted on us, the clegs chased us, the bags weighed a ton, the rain soaked us, the ground smashed our feet and the mountains exhausted us........ BUT what an experience. A truly magical round and place to experience. Fisherfield - I don my cap to you..... Number 6 - A popular Mountain all to myself The forecast was good, but I had to be back home for 11am........ A pre 4am start saw my leave the car before sunrise in Glencoe. A solo trip up to SCNL on a truly stunning morning. The views and peace were equally emotive. A memorable excursion albeit a short one..... Number 5 - A trip to the roof of North Africa.... Recovering from his own surgery my climbing buddy hatched this expedition..... a trip to the High Atlas. It really felt like an expedition form hiring a mule and porter to help us to the refuge, which was a days trek in itself. Then a great hike to Toubkal followed by the highlight of the trip , a visit to Ras and Timesguida...... Amazing people and mountains Number 4 - A mountain montage Although not a specific trip, I put the below film together, some highlights of my experiences in the mountains. Picks me up when I'm feeling down...... Number 3 - Solitude on Britain's Highest Peak Not often this happens - but I met surprisingly few people on this classic route on a perfect day. The CMD Arete on a perfect winters day and the most watched video on the channel....... Number 2 - A fine rock climb (and swim!) Probably my most enjoyable and memorable climb to date. A classic mountain, a classic route, classic company and great weather. Drive, Hike, scramble, Climb, swim. What a day!! Number 1 - A Winter Wild Camping experience It was to be the coldest night of the year so I headed off to camp in the snow!!:) It was a truly memorable experience with stunning weather and views - oh.... and the Northern lights made an appearance!! Desperate to be back on my feet for the winter season so as I can do this again , I already have my next locations mapped out........... Bring on the surgery soon so as I can get back out soon!!!!! Hope you enjoy the films....
