Some thoughts and reports from outings...
Blogs from some outdoor adventures.....
Slowly making my way through the Corbetts and two remained unclimbed South of Fort Bill. Not sure why these have been left undone but The Brack and Ben Donich on the west side of Glen Croe were still to be tackled. A good forecast saw me rising at stupid o clock (again) and driving by 04.15. It was light pretty quickly as sunrise is early at the moment. Ben Donich was chosen as it was a slightly shorter excursion! I was walking by 06.15am and after listening to a bunch of political commentators talking election talk on the radio, I was glad to be on the hill ;) Skies to the North were blue and clear of cloud, where as further south cloud filled the horizon. The air was cold and ground well frozen but when it started snowing it still took me by surprise. It lasted about 45minutes and gave a very light dusting... Unsurprisingly given my early start, I felt a bit iffy about half way up and had to stop! A bite to eat and some water sorted me out though and I was soon tackling to (very) short lived scramble down the rocky boulders nearer the top (made a little more interesting but the dusting of snow). Photo showing the scrambly step..... By 07.30, I was on the summit taking in the fine views, the weather front still sitting to the south with fine crisp air to the north. Cruachan and Lui were both basking in sunshine as the snow flurried away on Donich! Striking a pose near Donich's summit..... I didn't loiter too long and by the back of eight I was supping coffee, back to reality and re entering the rat race......
looking down to the Rest and be Thankful..................
