Some thoughts and reports from outings...
Blogs from some outdoor adventures.....
Having had a memorable summer full of great days and great mountains (last being a Torridon bike and hike - added to bottom as forgot to post) - I decided to head up the Corbett Beinn Bhreac Liath near Tyndrum. The forecast was ok and I was not expecting too much. In fact I chose this hill as I had a bit of the cold over the weekend and having already been up Udlaidh previously -I thougt this would be nice and easy! Left late and started the walk at midday. I headed straight up steep slopes and struggled - this was tiring - took nearly 1.45 to reach the summit and not once did I stop to take pictures or even videos - gasp I hear you cry!! I just headedup and up then along the flat top to the summit. Hada bite to eat (I did take a few snaps on the top) but was under welmed by this hill. Not too sure if its the fact that I have been spoiled over the past few months but it was more of an exercise session today as well as bagging another Corbett. I enjoyed being out but could help but think my previous outings and the weather I had for these have spoiled me!! Need to toughen up - however cant wait for the snow to retun... oll on winter - can we skip Autumn please (tongue firmly in cheek!) A few piccies from the summit and Torridon video below........ Beinn an Eoin and
Baosbheinn Great walk but three things to note: 1- Strongly recommend doing this hike in an anti clockwise direction (unlike me). Mainly due to the steep and scrambly descent to the bothy at Poca Buidhe. Much easier doing this in ascent J 2- I took a bike – not too sure I benefited from it as I found the path extremely rock and rough – at no point was I “free wheeling”! 3- Don’t leave as late as I did (13.00- not back to car until 21.00!!) 4- River crossings may be tricky after heavy rain 5- Don hang around when the wind drops as you may get eaten alive J Apart from that it is a fantastic walk with some of the best views in Scotland J P.S. The bothy had a sign stating that it was no longer in use for the general public and only for use by Gairloch estate.
