Some thoughts and reports from outings...
Blogs from some outdoor adventures.....
Following a week of High Pressure centred around the British Isles, we decided on taking the Scupper Pro's for an outing in the High Seas in Fife..... Leaving The East Sands around 12.30 we set off on flat calm seas, heading down the coast towards the Maiden's Rock. The weather was okay and after a little while our attention was taken by a ship anchored off shore. With the conditions being so good we decided to heaed out to sea and have a look (could it be the "Black Pig" or indeed the "Flying Dustman"!). On arrival it proved to be an industrial ship perhaps oil or gas related. A quick circuit was performed and luckily the occupants deemed us not to be Pirates and stood down from their defence hoses ;) The Fog was rolling in now and St Andrews had disappeared, time to head back to the coast. We had a break at the Rock and Spindle where I discovered that I had all the elements for a coffee - Apart from my brewing mug!!! ARRGGHHHH Never mind, back to sea and to try and head back. The fog was coming an going but we still encountered lots of wild life, Herons, Shags - even a Puffin, but the highlight was seeing the Lions Mane Jelly fish(apparently these have been known to grow to 37m in length?!!!). Anyway this one was camera shy and I managed to get some brief footage before it headed in to the depths!! (see video). Onwards through the gloom and gradually the sails of the numerous sailing boats came into view through the fog. We kept well out of their way and headed round the pier, just in time to see a young lad catch a flat fish off the pier - well done sir! Eventually we negotiated our way back to the East Sands where Carol was waiting and had a shot on the kayaks too - a good fun trip :) We were lucky that Cut Throat Jake wasn't on the high seas today - we paddle for another day..... Round the back of the Pier - Just about see the catherdral through the fog.... Black water.... Intrepid Explorers return....
