Some thoughts and reports from outings...
Blogs from some outdoor adventures.....
10th November 2013... a cold snap hits and as the weekend approaches a finger of High Pressure moves across Scotland. Up and away and a glorious weekend trip to Ben More and Stob Binnein, perfect conditions...... Given the winter of 2012/13 my mind was saying"this is it - going to be a belter of a winter for getting into the hills- might get some good photos too:) love blue skies and white peaks:). A couple of weeks later and we had another cracker in Glencoe and Stob Coire nan Lochan........ Since then the Atlantic Lows have swept in and kept the hills mainly cloudy, windy, snowy ..... too much snow and not enough deep freezes and I can't recall any notable high pressure systems making any inroads :( Not all bad though - had some memorable trips - mainly hillwalking in windy, snowy conditions - although we got lucky on a trip up Sgor Gaoith where the weather allowed us some nice views across the Cairngorm Plateaux and some cracking photos - suggesting I didn't need completely blue skies and white peak to satisfy my photo taking addiction! A trip to Winter Corrie saw a quick blast up Central Gully and some fine old snow at this level at this time. Headed up Dreish then negotiated a banked out path on the way back down the Shank of Drumfallow..... Still no blue skies......... So little in the way of mountaineering done so far - however looking back through my old videos I found our ascent of No.2 gully on Ben Nevis aT the end of May, cracking - hope remains!!!! Fingers crossed the weather patterns change - well perhaps in few weeks as we are now headed to foreign climates....... So now our trip to the High Atlas beckons... packing today and I really hope we don't take the weather with us.... Shall we get some blue skies and good conditions in Morocco - fingers crossed......
